Why Treating AI Like a Science Experiment Makes You 10x Better (4/5)
AI Mindset Series: AI Rule #4
This is part 4 of 5 in the AI Mindset Series. Read part 3 here.
ChatGPT can be frustrating sometimes.
It hallucinates.
It gives you answers that are flat-out wrong.
It delivers bad advice with the confidence of a seasoned expert.
And when you're relying on it to save time, that can feel like a slap in the face.
If you've ever sat there staring at the screen thinking, "This is useless. I could've done it faster myself," you're not alone. We've all felt that way at some point in time.
But here's the mindset shift that makes all of this easier:
Treat every interaction as an experiment.
We should never forget that AI is a brand-new technology. It's powerful, yes… but it's also far from perfect (at least for now).
If you expect perfection from day one, you will be disappointed.
If you put on your scientist hat and approach every conversation as an experiment, you'll massively reduce your frustration (and get better results in the process).
Rule #4: Experiment Like a Scientist
ChatGPT won't always get it right the first time.
And that's OK.
You wouldn't expect to hit a bullseye the first time you pick up a bow.
You practice, adjust your aim, and get better with each shot.
Approach learning ChatGPT the same way.
Tweak your prompts
Try different angles
Add more context
Break the task into smaller pieces
Use some Black Magic prompting when you have to
Every interaction is an experiment.
Every "miss" is feedback.
Every iteration makes you better.
This might sound simple, but it's the most critical piece of advice when you're an early adopter of (any) new technology.
A few practical tips to make it easy
1. Newer models help
GPT-5 has massively reduced hallucinations compared to earlier versions... but it's still best practice to double-check the most critical information (especially if you plan to share that information with others).
2. Ask for sources
If you're working with important data (market research, financials, health-related info), double-check sources.
A simple add-on like "give me sources for each claim" often cuts down on errors and makes it easier for you to spot-check.
This way, you don't just trust the machine blindly. You stay in control while still benefiting from its INSANE speed.
When you adopt this mindset, frustration disappears.
Imagine how much lighter your workdays will feel when you no longer get annoyed at every "bad" response.
Instead of slamming your laptop shut in frustration, you'll treat each miss as a step closer to a better result. You'll move faster, stay calmer, and actually have fun using AI.
That's the difference between approaching ChatGPT as a frustrated user… or as a scientist who's constantly learning, tweaking, and improving.
This concludes today's lesson.
Tomorrow, we’ll wrap up the week with a warning most solopreneurs ignore… until it burns them out.
Stay tuned.
